Stamp's Stomp

Even if it were never to be scheduled again, we can't ever forget this one! Larry Stamp was one of the original members of the club and although he has long since passed away, was one of the oldest club members. By riding until he was 90, he probably rode longer than most as well. When Larry was alive and riding, it was an unwritten rule that he lead the ride until it turned off Hudson Ave, only then could you pass him. Even the hot shot "racers" respected this agreement.

Since there are no real stops on this 10 mile mostly flat ride on the side streets of Irondeqouit, lot's of times people would wait at one of the 3 "rest stops" he had designated in different neighborhoods. Even though he rode this ride frequently, when it was scheduled as a club ride, he never rode it alone. On one ride (near one of the last few years he rode), he was unable to ride due to an inner ear infection, a club member drove him on the route in his car while the rest of us rode! They would be waiting for us at the "rest stops". This was truly respected by the club as Larrys' ride.
