Ithaca Soaring

Ithaca Soaring, 101 miles, heads south from Ithaca to the Harris Hill Rec area outside of Elmira. The route is almost entirely on quiet backroads except in Elmira and Ithaca. It begins with a long climb up Connecticut Hill and many more grades are forthcoming including the climb up Harris Hill. Although the hills are tough, there are some incredible downhills that fall gracefully for miles! There's a 60 mile cut in Breesport but you will miss the glider planes at Harris Hill as well as the inviting porch swings and expansive views. Rest stops are at the Rts. 13/224 intersection, Breesport, Elmira, Harris Hill, Erin and Newfield. In Newfield you will ride through the authentic wood-planked Covered Bridge before the scintillating downhill on Rte. 13 drops you at Ithaca's doorstep.
