417 Wayne Wanderer

A series of rides from Penfield east into Wayne County on rural roads, ranging from 31 to 58 miles with options for shorter cuts. The ride options are:

Marion Meander - 43mi/1400ft Rolling, 34 mi cut.

"Meander" is the right word for any direct eastward assault on Marion from Penfield. Drumlins are in the way, so roads zig-zag north & south to go around them. The result is fun combination of small hills and hollows that make you feel like you've really gotten away from it all, even though not far from home. Dutchland Foods store on the north side of town is a great place for a break. Ice cream is handy at Long Acre Farms on the return.

Apple Shed - 58mi/2000ft, Moderate/Rolling, 41mi cut.

Fresh strawberries, sweet cherries, blueberries, peaches and apples await at The Apple Shed fruit market and cider mill in Fairville, NY. Unique and tasty lunches including these fresh ingredients is also served. Surprisingly rolly, beautiful and quiet riding in the lesser-known eastern countryside.

Food: Williamson/NY21 (.5mi N off-route), Apple Shed, Marion, Long Acre Farm.

Walworth Wanderer  - 31mi/1000ft Moderate, 16 & 19 mi cuts.

This option is for those looking for a shorter ride on the rural Wayne county roads. A cafe just east of the route on Rt 441 in Walworth is an ideal rest stop. A 19 mile cut with 540 ft of climbing provides a S&E option.
