Lyons has great and interesting history as a canal town. Who knew that it was the largest producer of peppermint oil and products in the world. This venture could not have been successful without Erie Canal for distribution. The annual Peppermint Festival is one of the best in the area, and the town itself is being carefully renewed to its former status as an important port on the canal system.

This 52 mile with 1600 rolling hills route has beautiful farms, hills and valleys, especially as you approach Lyons.
