Brian Managan to Lead Adventure Cycling's Inaugural Route 66 Tour

From Brian Managan,

I just got the news from Arlen Hall, Tours Director at Adventure Cycling Association, that Adventure Cycling’s Epic Tours 2016 Leader selection is now official and we have a GO to publish. I’m actually quite honored … 166 responses came in from trained leaders and I was picked to lead one of only nine self-contained Epics in 2016.

I have been selected to lead Adventure Cycling's inaugural Route 66 tour from Santa Monica California to Chicago Illinois, starting April 17th.

This is a 55 day camping, shared cooking, self-contained and UNsupported (no van) tour of nearly 2600 miles that’s rated “advanced” physical difficulty level. (It should say “mental” too!) Registration is limited to 14 riders and I’d like to extend an invitation to fit, experienced, qualified, prepared, and adventurous RBC members to join me.  There are some VERY challenging sections to this route due to long desert stretches with minimal services, winds, and significant climbs. And Missouri. (There’s the “mental” part!)  ;-)  The paybacks however, are plenty! It’s a NEW tour, there will be “bugs” and I’m hoping to see a team that can weather the challenges and beta-test this for future tours.

See the full Route 66 Tour details page (hit all the “tabs”) at:

A bit later, I’ll have a complete write-up to share on the web and newsletter. I’m hoping to make this Adventure Cycling’s fastest tour sellout ever, and get to work on a million preparations for this Brand New Tour!

 Happy Trails!
