The ravages of age force us to sell this bike.
Santana Team AL.
Serial number WK200. Bought in 2002 by the original owner. I am the second owner.
Upright bars for comfortable riding.
The Santana size is “Small” The label says it is designed fit inseams for captain of 77-83cm (~30 to 33”); stoker, 70-89cm (~27-1/2 to 35”). (It was a tad big for me but I could not pass it up.)
Captain standover height, 30-1/2”, stoker 28-3/4”.
Reynolds Ouzo Pro Tandem carbon fork.
Chris King headset.
Dura Ace front caliper brake, 10” Winzip rear disk rear brake. No need for a drag brake with this bike.
Wheelsmith custom wheels, Hadley hubs, Mavic T217 rims, Continental Gator Hardshell 700x28 tires with installed StopFlats tire liners. The original skewers are titanium. I still have them but have Phil Wood security PitLocks installed. Both go with the bike.
Shimano Ultegra front derailleur.
Shimano XTR rear derailleur.
Captain’s cranks 175mm, stoker’s 170.
Front 24/32/42, rear 11-34 9-speed. The 24T chainring with the 34 cog gives great climbing ability but exceeds the rear derailleur capacity. To avoid chain slack, an upshift to the middle chain ring comes sooner than it would with a larger chainring.
Chains, chainrings, cogs are all in good shape. Bike has low mileage. We rarely rode more than 25 miles per ride.
Shifters: Shimano Deore Megashift.
Upright bars, Ritchey Pro front, Ritchey rear.
Suspension stoker seat post.
The frame is gorgeous and mint. The welds are a work of art. The paint is a pretty mix with almost no cosmetic scratches and no dings except for a paint gouge on the chainstay from a dropped chain. Some small missing parts of the decals on the top tubes
Terry saddles. Butterfly captain, Liberator stoker.
Rear Planet Bike fender.
Garneau Stream R-12 insulated rack bag.
Mirrors: Rhode Gear, captain; Cateye, stoker.
Click-stand, custom sized.
TiGr titanium lock.
Cateye Micro wireless cyclometer.
Four carbon fiber water bottle cages.
Princeton Tec rear light.
Stoker bar bag that holds two sodas.
If you know tandems, you will know that this is a fantastic opportunity to upgrade to a Santana, the Cadillac of tandems. Santana only makes tandems and had been in business since 1976.
You are welcome to take this to any bike shop for evaluation prior to purchase
