Everyone believes they know how to ride a bike but how much do you really know about safe riding?

We are excited to be able to offer a series of bicycle safety classes this year led by RBC Member, Lori Burch. Lori is a Cycling Instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists.

This course is given in 2 parts: 2 hrs on Tuesday evening and 2 hrs on Saturday afternoon.  This is a hands-on, active participation cycling class with the majority of instruction outside both days, so bring your bike and helmet both days.

Improve your comfort level and confidence with riding on 2 wheels!    In this class participants will learn about and practice the following basic cycling skills in the safety of a closed parking lot:

Day 1:

  • Proper bike and helmet fit
  • The ABC Quick Check for a safe ride
  • Effective starting and stopping
  • How to ride in a straight line
  • Basic shifting
  • How to “scan” (looking behind you) while moving
  • Proper signaling
  • Quick stop
