Adirondack Rail Trail

We will park in Lake Placid at 1pm (to give you time for travels to Lake Placid) and head out with gear on the ADK Rail Trail to Rollins Pond Campground (10 miles). You may make your own reservation or join one of us that reserved ahead of time (NYS campgrounds fill quickly). Once we arrive at Rollins Pond, we can set up and relax or rent a kayak from the campground area. On Sunday, we will head out and take the trail as far as we can. The trail is currently open until Lake Clear and may be open as far as Tupper Lake at that time. Upon finishing the trail, we will reverse back to Rollins Pond. Maximum mileage on Sunday would be 50 miles; this will depend on how far along they are with construction. Upon returning to Rollins Pond, we can relax or kayak. On Monday, we will pack up and head back to Lake Placid where we could load our cars and head out.

If you have not been to the ADK rail trail and enjoyed the area, this is a must.  It is a flat crushed stone surface. The views are postcard worthy. The pace will be leisurely so you can take it all in. Details about parking and food options will be identified once the trip gets closer.
