Erie Canal Detour at E Henrietta Rd

There is construction at E. Henrietta Road at the Erie Canal Trail that will significantly impact the trail use during 2016 and probably 2017. The bridge over the canal will be replaced and ramps on/off the expressway will be altered.

Will post more details here when we get them.

    This detour takes you off the trail through Brighton park, through a mudhole, out through the VA entry, up the hill, and straight through the perpetually backed up intersection of E. Henrietta and Westfall. Best to avoid this part of the canal path completely, and find an alternate ride. Nobody who planned this detour even considered whether it would be good for cyclists. You would be better off going down BHTL rd.

    Erie Canal Trail Riders:

    I checked the detour today and talked to a friend cyclist riding it this morning.

    It is adequately signed at this point in time. The detour will remain in effect until about October 2016.
